Owner and Primary Instructor, Leah Perini, developed her deep roots and passion for fitness at the young age of 6 when she first started her journey as a runner through her youth Track & Field and Cross Country Team. She competed as a Nationally Ranked runner in both the USA Track and Field circuit as well as the AAU where she competed in The Junior Olympics in North Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, Kentucky, Nevada, and California. She also played basketball through the Parks & Rec and City leagues in her hometown.
Leah transitioned from youth programs to high school where she graduated as a 4 year/3 sport Varsity Athlete (Cross Country/Basketball/Track & Field). Earning Athletic Scholarships to compete in Cross Country and Track & Field first at College of the Canyons and then transferring to California Lutheran University, Leah focused primarily on Hurdles, High Jump, and the 4x100m Relay. Throughout her career, she was fortunate to be trained by and with some of the best, including Olympic Medalist Athletes and Coaches. In 2003, she finished her College Career as a member of the 4x100m Relay Team that made All – SCIAC Selections.
After College, Leah naturally progressed in her fitness journey to take on a coaching role with her hometown local youth track club, STORM as a way to give back to a sport that has played such an important role in her life journey. With her college competing years behind her she set out to find new opportunities to challenge herself and keep her passion for running and fitness going. She completed her first marathon in June of 2008 at the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon. The same year she completed the Chicago Marathon, raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This sparked a deep desire to use her passion for running to help others. In 2009 she began volunteering as a support coach for S.O.A.R (Students Off and Running), a non-profit group that mentors At Risk high school students to run the L.A. Marathon. Leah has continued to compete in Marathons and Half Marathons across the country to this day. From San Diego to Sacramento, Chicago to Florida (where she completed the Disney Goofy Challenge - 1/2 Marathon Saturday, Full Marathon Sunday), to her most recent finish in the 2016 New York Marathon just 13 months after giving birth to her son, Joseph.
Leah understands the importance that strength training and conditioning play and how the two go hand and hand with running. In 2013 Leah evolved in her Fitness Career to instruct at an outdoor bootcamp, 805 Bootcamp. Her love for assisting others on their journey has only grown and evolved over the years, which is why she decided to take a leap of faith in 2017 and evolve in her passion to help others by creating Simi Evolve Fitness. She is committed to continuing to help others fall in love with running and fitness, pushing for the best possible performance, no matter what your level.
